your dashboard

Your day, and every job, in one place.

Your dashboard shows new matches and what needs you today. Every job you save goes on one list that shows where it stands: saved, applied, interviewing or offer.

every job gets a page

Everything about one job, in one place.

The pay, the dates, why it matched, your notes, and the resume and cover letter written for that job.

how a search works

Five steps, and you stay in charge.

Recon never sends an application for you. Your resume is written from your own background, and you read it before it goes anywhere.

From search to interview

  1. Press Search for jobs. Fenn checks LinkedIn, Indeed and employers near you.
  2. Pick the matches you like. Each one says why it matched.
  3. Get a resume and cover letter written for that job.
  4. Read them, then apply yourself.
  5. Practice the interview and keep track of replies.
mock interviews

Practice the interview before the real one.

Fenn runs mock interviews for the jobs you applied to, one question at a time. Type your answers or say them out loud.

Then you get a score for each answer, what worked, what to make better, and a stronger way to say it.

ask Fenn

Stuck? Ask Fenn.

Ask about anything on the screen: a company, a job posting, or what to work on today. Fenn answers in plain words.

shuffle the deck

Try on a new look for your resume.

Click a page to bring it to the front. Your words stay put, only the look changes.

about your files

Your jobs, resumes and notes stay in a Recon folder on your computer. You can open it like any other folder.

things people ask

Questions

What does Recon do?

It finds job postings that fit you, writes a resume and cover letter for the ones you pick, and keeps a list of where you applied and what happened next.

Is Recon free?

Yes, Recon is free to use right now. You do need your own Claude subscription, because Recon does its writing and research through your Claude plan.

Can I use a different AI instead of Claude?

Not yet. Recon works with Claude today. Support for other AI is something we are looking into.

Who is Fenn?

Fenn is Recon's guide, a little blue fox. Fenn points you to the right button, answers questions about jobs and companies, and helps you practice for interviews. Fenn is your scout, not a person.

What do I need to run it?

A Windows 10 or 11 PC and your own Claude subscription. Recon uses Claude, signed in to your account, for the writing and research, and helps you set it up the first time you open it.

Does Recon apply to jobs for me?

No. Recon gets the resume and cover letter ready. You read them and send the application yourself.

Will it make things up on my resume?

Recon tries hard not to. It writes from your own background and leaves out what a job asks for that you have not done. AI can still get something wrong, so read every resume before you send it. If a line is not right, ask Fenn to fix or rewrite it.

Can I practice for interviews?

Yes. Fenn runs mock interviews for the jobs you applied to, one question at a time. Type your answers or say them out loud. At the end you get a score for each answer and tips to make it stronger.

Where are my files kept?

On your computer, in a folder called Recon. Recon has no account system and no server of its own. The Privacy Policy has the full details.

Is there a Mac version?

The Mac beta is for early testers. Its download link is coming soon. Write to us about early testing. Windows is the main version.

How is Recon updated?

On Windows, the Microsoft Store updates Recon, the same way it updates your other Store apps. During the Mac beta, new versions are posted on this website: download the new one and drag it into Applications to replace the old one. Your jobs and documents stay where they are.

How do I remove everything?

Close Recon, then delete your Recon folder and the folder %APPDATA%\Recon. Uninstalling leaves those two folders in place on purpose, so nobody loses a job search by accident.

Recon is a Windows app that helps you run a job search. Your jobs, resumes and other working files are saved on your computer. Live AI features send information needed for the task to Claude. Searches visit job sites directly. Feedback is sent only when you press Send feedback. This page explains those uses and how to delete your information.

Who is responsible

Recon is made by Little Things. Contact: reconapp.feedback@gmail.com.

What Recon keeps on your computer

All of this is stored on your own computer, as ordinary files:

  • Your Recon folder (by default in Documents, called Recon). It holds your jobs and application statuses, your profile, your resumes and cover letters (and the PDFs), company notes, interview practice, your past chats with Claude (including files you attached to a chat), and backups.
  • A small settings file for the app (for example whether you have seen the intro, and how many feedback messages you sent today).

Recon has no account system, no online profile and no server of its own. We do not receive any of the above.

What is sent out, and to whom

  1. Claude (Anthropic). Recon uses Claude, a separate program on your computer, signed in to your own Claude account. Information needed for a task is sent to Anthropic. This can include your Ask Fenn messages, text from the screen you are viewing, job descriptions and company notes, resume and background details, files or pictures you attach, and interview questions and answers for scoring. Speech turned into text is treated like typed text. Anthropic handles this information under your account and its privacy statement at anthropic.com/legal/privacy. You can manage Anthropic's data choices in your Claude account. Claude also manages its own sign-in and local records separately from Recon.
  2. Job sites and web pages. During job searches, company research and adding a job by link, Recon and Claude visit LinkedIn, Indeed, company career systems such as Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Recruitee, SmartRecruiters and Workday, and remote-job boards such as RemoteOK, Remotive, Jobicy, Himalayas and Arbeitnow. Requests can include role words, a location you entered and the page address. These requests do not upload your resume. Direct visits use your internet connection. To read some pages, Recon uses a hidden Microsoft Edge window with a separate temporary profile, without your normal Edge sign-ins, history or saved passwords. Downloads from these pages are blocked, and the hidden window checks where each connection actually goes and blocks private and local network addresses. Visited pages may load their own scripts and contact other websites, including services used by those pages. Those websites handle requests under their own privacy statements.
  3. Feedback. Only when you press Send feedback, Recon sends the visible message, your first name and email if you entered them, the Recon version and your Windows version through Web3Forms at api.web3forms.com to the developer's configured email inbox. The Report button may fill in an Ask Fenn question and answer; you can edit or remove them before sending. We receive that message and use it to respond to feedback and reports. Recon sends at most 10 feedback messages a day. The service also receives the normal connection information for the request. To ask us to delete a sent message, contact reconapp.feedback@gmail.com.
  4. Claude setup. Only when you press Set up Claude for me, Recon downloads Claude from Anthropic's own download site. Before anything runs, Recon checks every redirect, checks the file against Anthropic's published checksum and confirms it has a valid Windows signature from Anthropic, PBC. If any check fails, Recon stops, deletes the file and shows Anthropic's official install page. The download does not include your jobs, resumes or messages, but like any web request it shares normal connection information. Claude installs its files outside the Recon folder.
  5. Updates. The Microsoft Store delivers Recon updates. Recon asks Windows' own Store update service whether a new version exists. If the Store app cannot open, Recon may open Recon's page on apps.microsoft.com in your browser. Recon never downloads an update from anywhere else. Microsoft manages Store updates under its own privacy statement.
  6. Speech model recovery. Speech is normally turned into text using files shipped with Recon. Only if these files are missing, Recon can download replacement model files from Hugging Face (huggingface.co and its delivery domains under huggingface.co or hf.co). These downloads contain no microphone sound, messages or resumes. The download service receives the requested file address and normal connection information.
  7. Browser visits and connection information. Opening sign-in, setup instructions, this privacy statement, a Store web page or another website uses your browser and that site's privacy statement. Internet services receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address and request headers.

Recon uses no advertising, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services. The app's pages run from your own computer and load no outside fonts or scripts. Its engine listens only on your own computer (127.0.0.1), not on your network.

What Recon does not do

  • Recon does not sell your information. It sends information to the services described above to carry out the features you use.
  • Your working files are kept in your Recon folder. Setup also searches common folders for an existing Recon, reads recognized Recon folders to show their details, checks where Claude is installed, and may look at Claude settings left by older Recon add-ons. Recon uses its own app settings and Windows fonts outside the Recon folder. Files you choose to attach can also come from elsewhere. Claude keeps its own local records separately. These local checks do not send their results to the developer.
  • It does not send your jobs, resumes or files to the developer. Only what you put in a feedback message is sent, and you can see it first.
  • It does not track what you do in the app.
  • Speak uses your microphone while you choose to listen. It captures sound temporarily in memory and turns it into text on this computer. Recon does not save the sound as an audio file or send the sound out. The resulting text is used like typed text and can be sent to Claude when you use a live AI feature. You can type instead and stop listening at any time.

How to delete your data

  • Past chats: Settings, then "Clear all past chats".
  • Everything else: close Recon and delete your Recon folder (by default Documents\Recon) and the folder %APPDATA%\Recon.
  • Uninstalling Recon does not delete those two folders, on purpose, so nobody loses a job search by accident. Delete them by hand if you want everything gone.
  • Your Claude sign-in and what Anthropic keeps: manage these in your Claude account at claude.ai. Deleting the Recon folder does not remove anything Anthropic holds.
  • Deleting the Recon folders does not remove a separate Claude installation or its local sign-in, settings, conversation records or memory notes. Manage those separately using Claude's instructions. Information held by Anthropic or websites is managed under those services' own account and deletion processes.
  • A feedback message you already sent: Recon cannot recall it. Write to reconapp.feedback@gmail.com and ask for it to be deleted.
  • Before deleting, "Download a copy of my data" on the Home page saves a copy.

Children

Recon is a tool for adults looking for work. It is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this statement changes, the new date is at the top and the Store listing links to the current version. You can also open this statement from the Privacy statement link in Recon's Settings, on the setup screen before Claude sign-in, and in the Feedback window.
